Club Coach Wanted

An exciting opportunity is open for a Club Coach at Colonel Light Gardens Bowling Club for the 2026/27 season.
1. Who We Are
Established in 1928 and still retaining the heritage of that era, the Club has transformed itself over the past 5 years both on and off the rinks. Upgrades to clubroom facilities, bowling (grass) greens and new lighting has resulted in a vibrant and growing club.
We are seeking a coach to further improve the skills of both our experienced and newer members.
For the upcoming 2026/27 season CLG BC will have Saturday Pennant teams in Division 4, 6 & 7 competitions and Wednesday Pennant teams in Division 3 & 4 competitions.
2. Role
The overarching objective being to further assist improvement of players through the implementation of a well-executed coaching program.
The required coach will be a person who is equally adept to teaching the basics to new pennant players as they are to improving the skills and aiding the development of more experienced bowlers.
A coach that will elevate player and team performance through support and mentoring.
3. Responsibilities
• Lead and conduct structured and purposeful training sessions for players of all skill levels.
• Ensure that these are done with an understanding of individual player development and learning.
• Assess individual players and set goals and practice drills for improvement.
• Provide a clear understanding of each of the roles – lead, second. third and skipper.
• Construct game day strategies for each team and role.
• Provide the art of understanding an opponent or opposing team match day plan and practical strategies to counter these.
• Instil a mindset resilience and positive thinking within each player and methods to do so within teams.
• Ensure the above is best demonstrated at and during practice sessions.
4. Club Requirements:
• Be firmly committed to Clubs Vision and to its objective to improve all players such that they, like themselves develop a love for the game and a desire to continually improve.
• To carry out the role in good faith for development of the Club at all times.
• Provide feedback on player development and improvement to selectors throughout the season.
5. Coach Experience:
• Bowls Australia Coach Accredited or an experienced coach completing or willing to attain BA Accreditation.
• Excellent communication skills – capability to deal with all players.
• Proven management skills – maintain a ledger of player development.
• Proven capability to adapt and understand if and when a change in program is needed.
• Previous Club references (or evidence) to support the above points.
6. Renumeration:
The role be it for a Playing or Non-Playing coach for 2026/27 is negotiable, influenced by anticipated time commitments and will be determined during the selection process.
